Program Coordinator

We’re looking for a Program Coordinator who’s ready to roll up their sleeves and make a real difference. You’ll play a key role in bringing our programs to life, coordinating activities, engaging with youth, supporting coaches and mentors, and building relationships that strengthen our communities. Requirements

2+ years of experience in youth programs, community engagement, or related nonprofit work.
Strong organizational and communication skills, you can juggle multiple priorities and keep things moving.
A heart for community, you genuinely care about helping young people succeed.
Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (local travel required).

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and oversee daily program operations across multiple sites.
  • Build positive, trust-based relationships with youth participants and families.
  • Partner with schools, recreation centers, and community organizations to expand outreach.
  • Organize workshops, events, and tournaments that promote teamwork and emotional growth.
  • Track attendance, outcomes, and success stories to help measure program impact.
  • Support coaches and mentors to ensure programs run smoothly and safely.
  • Travel to program sites and events (mileage reimbursement provided).

Boys to Men Program Coach

At Don’t Shoot Guns Shoot Hoops (DSGSH), we believe in healing through connection, compassion, and community. Our mission is to end gun violence by empowering youth and young adults with the tools to strengthen their hearts, minds, and futures. This Thanksgiving, we’re hosting our Boys to Men Overnight Camp: a four-day, three-night experience designed for 56 public high school boys (grades 10–12). Through basketball, mentorship, and guided reflection, we’ll help young men learn to grow, heal, and find purpose.

Requirements

You’re passionate about helping young men reach their potential.
You believe in the power of mentorship, teamwork, and community.
You’re patient, compassionate, and trauma-informed.
You have experience working or volunteering with youth (preferred).
You have a background or strong interest in basketball or physical coaching.
You’re CPR/First Aid certified and/or able to pass medications (preferred).
You’re available Thursday–Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend and ready for an unforgettable experience. (Must stay the entire duration of the camp- food and lodging are provided!)

Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a small group of high school boys throughout the camp experience.
  • Coach daily basketball sessions that teach teamwork, discipline, and resilience.
  • Facilitate group discussions on healing, emotional growth, and positive manhood.
  • Model respect, empathy, and accountability in every interaction.
  • Supervise youth during both day and overnight activities to ensure safety and engagement.
  • Administer or oversee medication if qualified.
  • Participate fully in all workshops, meals, and camp events.
  • Travel with DSGSH using provided transportation (required).

Grant Writer and Grant Manager (Part Time)

The Grant Writer & Grant Manager will play a critical role in supporting DSGSH’s fundraising strategy by researching, writing, and managing grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government sources. This position is ideal for a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who is passionate about youth development and social justice, and who can produce high-quality proposals in a small, mission-driven organization.

This is a part-time, contract position requiring approximately 5 hours per week with flexible scheduling.

Requirements

Proven experience in grant writing and management (nonprofit or community-based experience preferred).
Strong written communication and storytelling skills, able to convey mission and impact persuasively.
Excellent attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Familiarity with foundation, corporate, and government grant processes.
Passion for DSGSH’s mission and values around youth empowerment and violence prevention.

Responsibilities
  • Research and identify new grant opportunities that align with DSGSH’s mission and priorities.
  • Write compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports for funders.
  • Maintain and update the organization’s grants calendar, ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Track and manage post-award reporting requirements and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with the Founder & CEO to gather program data, impact metrics, and success stories for use in proposals and reports.
  • Assist with preparing budgets and supporting documentation for grant submissions.
  • Help build and maintain relationships with funders, partners, and stakeholders.
